BBC apologises to PinkNews founder Benjamin Cohen
Original: bbc benjamin cohen
The BBC has issued an apology to Benjamin Cohen, the founder and chief executive of PinkNews, over what it accepts were defamatory claims of sexual misconduct. The broadcaster's climbdown is being reported by UK media outlets including Press Gazette, and has drawn attention to how the corporation handles serious allegations before publication. The apology closes a damaging episode for the BBC's editorial standards.
Why now: The BBC's public apology over serious defamatory allegations against a prominent media executive is newsworthy and reflects on BBC editorial standards.
