Ukraine Strikes Russia's Largest Oil Refinery in Omsk
Original: Ukraine Hits Russia's Largest Oil Refinery in Omsk with Long-Range Drones
Ukraine launched long-range drones at the Omsk oil refinery in Siberia, Russia's largest, causing a reported fire at the facility. The strike marks one of Ukraine's deepest attacks of the war, targeting a refinery thousands of kilometres from the front line. Observers say the attack aims to cut fuel supplies and export revenues funding Russia's war effort.
Why now: The unprecedented range of the strike on a strategic energy target deep inside Siberia marks a significant escalation.
