Shin Bet uncovers terror cell in southern Israel
Original: Shin Bet uncovers West Bank-style terror cell in Negev's Segev Shalom
Israel's Shin Bet security agency says it has uncovered a terrorist cell in Segev Shalom, a Bedouin town in the Negev desert. Officials describe the cell as operating in a manner similar to networks typically found in the West Bank, a development that has drawn attention because such activity is rare in Israel's south. Details about arrests, charges and the cell's alleged plans have not been fully disclosed.
Why now: A West Bank-style terror cell surfacing inside Israel proper is unusual and raises security concerns.
