Reports from France describe roughly half a million school-age children joining protests against government austerity measures and corruption. Commenters are linking the scale of the youth movement to themes of liberty famously showcased during the Paris 2024 Olympics opening ceremony, framing the protests as a continuation of France's revolutionary tradition.

Why now: The sheer scale of children joining anti-austerity protests in France is striking and ties into ongoing anger over corruption.
