Nuclear bombs at Ghedi airbase spark scrutiny in Italy

Original: esercitazione militare

Discussion in Italy is focusing on the Ghedi military base in Lombardy, reportedly hosting nuclear bombs without transparency or an emergency plan for local residents. The report, published by Il Fatto Quotidiano, criticises the lack of public information about the weapons stored there. It comes as searches around military exercises surge, reflecting broader concern about the presence of nuclear weapons on Italian soil and what preparations exist if an accident occurred.

Why now: Rising attention to military exercises and the reported presence of US nuclear weapons at the Ghedi airbase has renewed public debate in Italy about safety and transparency.
