The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max is reportedly being tested with an AirDrop-like feature that allows direct file exchange with iPhone, iPad and Mac devices, as part of the HyperOS 4 beta. The function, referred to as SmartShare, would let Xiaomi users transfer files seamlessly with Apple hardware, a notable cross-ecosystem step. Tech observers are discussing what this means for interoperability between the two platforms.
Why now: Cross-brand file sharing between Android and Apple devices is rare, so news of Xiaomi testing AirDrop compatibility is generating interest.
