Bolivia's attorney general has been arrested after opening an investigation into Fernando Cerimedo, a political strategist described as 'MAGA's man in Latin America,' over allegations including attempted femicide and drug ties. Critics say the arrest came under pressure from the Trump administration, raising concerns about US influence over judicial independence in Bolivia and the protection of a key political ally.
Why now: The arrest is seen as an unprecedented case of US pressure shaping legal action against a prosecutor investigating a Trump-aligned operative.
