California's SEIU 1000 authorizes a historic strike
SEIU Local 1000, the union representing tens of thousands of California state workers, has voted to authorize a strike that the union describes as historic in scale. The authorization gives union leaders the green light to call a walkout, though a strike date has not been confirmed. The move signals escalating labor tension with the state over contract negotiations.
Why now: A strike authorization by one of California's largest public-sector unions threatens major disruption to state services and signals rising public-sector labor action.
