UN expert warns older women's rights are being ignored

A UN independent human rights expert has warned that age must never diminish rights, highlighting that older women worldwide face violence, exploitation and neglect while remaining largely invisible in the laws, policies, data and services meant to protect women in general. The expert called for older women to be recognised and included in protections rather than overlooked as they age.
Why now: The UN's warning draws attention to a neglected group ahead of ongoing global debates on women's rights and ageing populations.
