Half of world's top English news sites see 20% traffic decline
Original: Top 50 English-language news sites in the world: Half see declines of 20% or more in September
Press Gazette's monthly ranking of the world's top 50 English-language news websites found that half of the sites recorded traffic falls of 20% or more in September. The figures point to a broad month-on-month downturn across major publishers, and industry observers will be watching whether the declines reflect seasonal patterns or a deeper, lasting shift in how audiences consume news online.
Why now: The newly published September ranking shows unusually steep and widespread traffic declines across leading news publishers, prompting concern in the industry.
