Netflix has announced a new Bridgerton spin-off series centred on a young Lady Violet, developed by Shonda Rhimes. The news, reported at a BAFTA-related event and involving actress Nicola Coughlan, extends the franchise after the success of its previous prequel about young Queen Charlotte. Fans are debating which stories from the Bridgerton universe should be adapted next.

Why now: Bridgerton is one of Netflix's most popular franchises, so any expansion of its universe draws immediate fan and media attention.
