Original: benjamin cohen
The BBC has issued an apology to Benjamin Cohen, the founder and chief executive of PinkNews, after false sexual misconduct allegations were made against him. The Telegraph reported the broadcaster's apology, which follows claims that were shown to be unfounded. The case has drawn attention to the harm caused by unverified accusations against public figures and how media organisations handle sensitive allegations.
Why now: The BBC's apology to a prominent media executive over false allegations is a significant and newsworthy correction.
