Newly reported internal files add to evidence that ExxonMobil ran a decades-long campaign to downplay climate change. The documents show the company's own scientists doubted the technological climate fixes Exxon publicly promoted, even as the firm marketed those solutions. Critics say the files strengthen claims that the oil giant misled investors and the public about climate science, fuelling renewed calls for accountability and litigation.
Why now: Fresh reporting on internal ExxonMobil documents showing its scientists doubted the climate fixes the company publicly hyped has reignited debate over corporate climate deception.
