Eritrea accuses Ethiopia of war declaration as troops clash
Original: eritrea
Eritrea has accused Ethiopia of a declaration of war after Ethiopian drone strikes hit Eritrean troops that crossed into the Tigray region. Residents told the BBC that Eritrean soldiers have moved deep into Ethiopian territory, marking a sharp escalation between the two countries and raising fears of a return to large-scale conflict in the Horn of Africa.
Why now: Fresh military clashes and accusations between Eritrea and Ethiopia signal a dangerous escalation of a long-running regional conflict.
