Amazon's new Alexa tablets to get full Google Play access
Original: Amazon's new Alexa tablets will have full access to Google Play https://www.engadget.com/2280936/amazon-alexa-tablets-ac
Amazon is reportedly launching new Alexa-powered tablets that will ship with full access to the Google Play Store, a notable shift for a company whose Fire tablets have long relied on its own Appstore. The move would give users direct access to Android apps and Google services, blurring the line between Amazon's budget devices and standard Android tablets.
Why now: It is a surprising reversal of Amazon's long-standing locked-ecosystem approach to its tablets.
