A Guardian column by Leander Schaerlaeckens argues the US men's national team may have shed its reliance on Christian Pulisic, delivering good results in his absence under coach Mauricio Pochettino amid a youth movement. The piece raises the question of whether the squad has outgrown its 'savior complex' around its biggest star. Reaction is likely to centre on whether Pulisic should still be considered indispensable ahead of future tournaments.
Why now: The USMNT are posting good results without Pulisic, sparking debate about the team's dependence on him.
