California state workers could strike this month after union vote
Original: California state workers could strike this month after union votes in support
California state employees are preparing for a possible strike this month after their union held a vote in support of job action. The ballot result gives union leaders a mandate to call workers out, setting up a potential showdown with the Newsom administration over pay and working conditions. Disruptions to state services could follow if no agreement is reached before the strike deadline.
Why now: A union vote authorizing a strike raises the immediate prospect of major disruptions to California state services.
