Morena opens call for mayoral candidates in Puebla
Original: proceso
Mexico's ruling party Morena has published its call for candidates seeking mayoral positions in Puebla. Under the rules, sitting municipal officials, or ediles, can take part without having to request a temporary leave from their posts first. The move matters ahead of Puebla's local elections, as it shapes who can compete for the party's nominations and may influence internal rivalries among hopefuls seeking mayoral candidacies.
Why now: The party's announcement of eligibility rules for Puebla mayoral candidacies is fresh political news affecting local election hopefuls.
