Original: "Revealed: the methane mega-leaks from UN climate summit host Turkey" # Turkey # Emissions # Methane # Climate # Climate
New reporting by the Guardian reveals large methane leaks in Turkey, the country set to host an upcoming UN climate summit. The findings highlight a gap between Turkey's role as climate conference host and its continued methane emissions, drawing criticism from climate observers who argue host countries should show stronger emissions-cutting leadership.
Why now: The report is embarrassing for Turkey shortly before it hosts the UN climate summit, fuelling debate over host-country credibility.
