Computer scientist Scott Aaronson has published a new blog post he calls "The Mathocalypse," arguing about a coming crisis in mathematics, widely read as concern that AI systems are starting to match or surpass human performance on hard math problems. The piece is being shared and debated on Hacker News, though discussion there is still light so far.
Why now: Aaronson's writing on AI and mathematics draws attention whenever concerns about AI outpacing human mathematicians resurface.
