Wang Xing case puts Myanmar scam centers back in focus
Original: wang xing
The actor Wang Xing, who was trafficked to a Myanmar scam compound earlier this year, is back in the news as Chinese state broadcaster CCTV reports that Beijing made three attempts to persuade crime families in Myanmar to leave the scam business. The report has renewed attention on Chinese nationals lured or kidnapped into online fraud operations along the Myanmar border.
Why now: CCTV's report on failed attempts to shut down Myanmar scam operations has revived interest in the Wang Xing trafficking case.
