Berlin CDU funding affair fuels political recriminations

Kai Wegner, Berlin's governing mayor, has publicly attacked the Left, Greens and SPD over their handling of a funding affair involving the Berlin CDU, saying damage has already been done to the city. He called the parties out in sharp terms as the dispute over subsidies and political responsibility continues, and commentators are trading blame over who bears responsibility for the affair.
Why now: Fresh political conflict in Berlin over the CDU funding affair and Wegner's attacks on rival parties is drawing attention.
