Wasp chews its way out of carnivorous pitcher plant
Original: Somebody has chewed a hole through the side of a Sarracenia leucophylla pitcher. Wasps are a favorite prey of Sarracenia
A Sarracenia leucophylla pitcher has been found with a hole chewed through its side. The carnivorous plant's favorite prey is wasps, and occasionally a wasp that falls into a pitcher manages to chew its escape route. Why now: Naturalists are sharing a striking example of prey outsmarting a carnivorous plant.
