Original: thomas huber

German mountaineer Thomas Huber has spoken publicly about Laura Dahlmeier, the former biathlon champion who died in a mountaineering accident in Pakistan, saying she can be "wiped from his thoughts by no means". His words are a personal tribute from one extreme athlete to another, and are drawing attention in Germany amid ongoing mourning for Dahlmeier.

Why now: Dahlmeier's death in a climbing accident in Pakistan remains a major topic in Germany, and Huber's personal tribute adds a mountaineering perspective.
