Thousands of ultra-Orthodox Jewish men in Israel are preparing to block roads and Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion airport in a mass protest, according to figures reported by The Times of Israel estimating around 80,000 participants. The demonstrations are part of ongoing tension over military conscription of yeshiva students, an issue that has repeatedly brought the Haredi community into confrontation with the state.
Why now: Tensions over ultra-Orthodox military exemption in Israel have escalated into threatened mass blockades.
