Cubs Beat Doves 5-2 in 1908 Gameday Score
Original: MLB Gameday: Cubs 5, Doves 2 Final Score (06/08/1908)
MLB's Gameday listing shows a final score of Cubs 5, Doves 2 from June 8, 1908. The Doves were the name used by the Boston franchise that later became the Braves, so the entry is a modern scoreboard presentation of a game played more than a century ago. Interest centers on the quirky matchup name and the Cubs' season that ended with a World Series title.
Why now: A century-old box score appearing on a modern scoreboard format draws attention to the odd team name and the Cubs' storied 1908 season.
