Satire Hits Albanese Over Fossil Fuels and Pacific Climate Warnings
Original: Albo Takes Break From Approving Fossil Fuel Projects To Tell Pacific Nations About El Nino — The Shovel. # thepacific #
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is being mocked in a satirical piece for warning Pacific nations about El Nino while continuing to approve fossil fuel projects. The joke lands on the perceived hypocrisy of Australia presenting itself as a climate partner to Pacific island states, which face existential threats from rising seas and warming oceans, while expanding coal and gas.
Why now: The satire resonates because of ongoing anger over Australia's fossil fuel approvals and its climate diplomacy with Pacific island nations.
