Disney has announced that the Super Bowl will be streamed on Disney+, alongside select Monday Night Football games. The championship game will continue to air on traditional broadcast through ABC and ESPN. The move signals Disney's push to put its biggest live sports content on its streaming service, following the broader industry shift toward making marquee NFL games available to streaming subscribers rather than limiting them to cable and broadcast television.
Why now: Disney expanding its flagship streaming service with major live NFL rights reflects the ongoing shift of big sports events from TV to streaming.
