Trump plans Florida golf course as new presidential retreat
Original: camp david
Donald Trump is reportedly planning to convert one of his Florida golf courses into a presidential retreat, raising comparisons with Camp David, the traditional Maryland retreat used by US presidents for decades. The proposal has drawn attention in the US and abroad, with discussion focusing on the cost, security arrangements and the precedent of a sitting president using his own property for official functions.
Why now: Reports that Trump wants to replace or supplement Camp David with his own Florida property have sparked debate about mixing presidential duties with his personal business interests.
