Prosecutors seek sentence for Hong Kong man over Taiwan assault

Original: 求刑

A Hong Kong man accused of travelling to Taiwan to attack a Japanese media figure has been indicted, with prosecutors formally seeking a prison term. The case, reported by Hong Kong and regional outlets, has drawn attention over its cross-border elements: the suspect was allegedly entrusted to carry out the assault on the Japanese journalist in Taiwan. Details of the exact sentence sought and the motive have not been fully disclosed in initial reports.

Why now: The indictment and sentence request mark a new development in a cross-border assault case involving Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan.
