Flock License Plate Cameras Draw Growing Scrutiny
Original: Flock license plate cameras
Flock Safety's automated license plate cameras are back in the news as people debate their spread across US cities and neighborhoods. The cameras track vehicle movements around the clock, and critics warn the data can be shared widely with police and other agencies, raising surveillance and privacy concerns. Supporters argue the systems help solve crimes and recover stolen cars, keeping the debate sharply divided.
Why now: Ongoing privacy concerns and new reports about the expanding use of Flock's plate-reader network are prompting fresh discussion.
