Strike two confirmed after ABS challenge in MLB
Original: Strike 2 confirmed following ABS challenge
Major League Baseball is using its automated ball-strike system (ABS) to review disputed calls, and in this case the second-strike call was confirmed after a team challenged it. The play is drawing attention as the league expands its ABS challenge system, which lets players contest ball and strike decisions checked by Hawk-Eye tracking technology.
Why now: MLB is rolling out the ABS challenge system this season, so confirmed or overturned calls are being closely scrutinised by fans and analysts.
