Hokkaido high school baseball autumn tournament upsets

Original: 北海道高校野球

Hokkaido's autumn high school baseball tournament is making headlines in Japan. Sapporo Nihon University, who appeared at this summer's Koshien national tournament, lost in the autumn Hokkaido tournament, ending their hopes of reaching Koshien in both summer and spring. Meanwhile, Hokkai, chasing a first title in three years, advanced past the first round, and first-time qualifier Ashoro held its official practice, with a former Nippon-Ham Fighters manager advising players to experience the dome's dimensions.

Why now: The autumn tournament decides spring Koshien spots, and a summer qualifier's early exit is a notable upset.
