Chinese Police Take Passports from Foreign Travelers in Leshan
Original: Chinese Police Took Our Passport in Leshan 🇨🇳😭 |World Road Trip| #EP-23
An Indian backpacking couple documenting a world road trip says Chinese police took their passports in Leshan, in Sichuan province, during a stop on their journey through China. The episode drawing large attention shows their reaction to losing hold of their travel documents mid-trip. Viewers are discussing the incident, with many debating how foreign travelers should handle passport checks and document retention by local police in China.
Why now: Travelers having passports seized by police abroad is alarming, and China's ongoing push to attract foreign tourists makes the story especially sensitive right now.
