Original: Singapore GP: Why Sprint debut at Marina Bay street track provides new twist to F1's toughest race weekend
The Singapore Grand Prix is set to feature a Sprint weekend for the first time, adding a new dimension to Formula 1's most physically demanding race at the Marina Bay street circuit. The format brings extra qualifying sessions and a shorter race, testing drivers and teams on the punishing, unforgiving track where mistakes are heavily penalised.
Why now: The Sprint format's debut at one of F1's toughest circuits gives fans and teams something novel to discuss ahead of the race weekend.
