Cubs Beat Bees 7-1 in June 1940 MLB Game
Original: MLB Gameday: Bees 1, Cubs 7 Final Score (06/09/1940)
A Major League Baseball scoreboard from June 9, 1940 shows the Chicago Cubs defeating the Cincinnati Bees 7-1. The result recalls the era when Cincinnati's National League club briefly competed under the 'Bees' name rather than as the Reds, and it has drawn attention as an unusual piece of baseball history.
Why now: Baseball fans are revisiting the obscure 1930s period when the Cincinnati team played under the Bees nickname.
