Smart Blur Tool Auto-Blurs Personal Data in the Browser
Original: Show HN: Smart Blur – Auto-Blur PII in the Browser, with a OpenAI Local Model
A new developer tool called Smart Blur automatically detects and blurs personally identifiable information directly in the browser, using a locally run OpenAI model so sensitive data never leaves the user's device. The tool launched on Hacker News under the Show HN label, where it drew modest attention and discussion among developers interested in privacy-first utilities.
Why now: Growing concern about sharing screenshots and data containing personal information is driving interest in privacy tools that process everything locally.
