Thailand prepares rescued leopard cats for return to the wild
Original: ‘A few are afraid of the chicks’: Preparing Thailand’s rescued leopard cats for life in the wild
Conservationists in Thailand are rehabilitating rescued leopard cats, small wild felines threatened by habitat loss and the pet trade, with the aim of releasing them back into their natural habitat. Caretakers report mixed temperaments among the animals — some hesitate at live prey such as chicks, a sign of how much preparation wild releases require. The work highlights growing efforts in Southeast Asia to give rescued wildlife a genuine second chance.
Why now: Readers are drawn to uplifting wildlife rehabilitation and rewilding stories from Thailand.
