Swedish police urge public to hang up on phone scammers
Original: bedrägeri
Swedish police are advising people to be blunt with suspected phone scammers, telling them it is fine to 'dare to be unpleasant' and simply hang up. The advice comes as telephone fraud, including impersonation scams targeting mainly older people, remains a widespread problem in Sweden, and police want the public to treat suspicious callers with suspicion rather than politeness.
Why now: Telephone fraud remains a growing problem in Sweden and the police's blunt new advice is drawing attention.
