Trump criticised over 'take out' remarks about Los Angeles and San Diego
Original: ‘Take out’ Los Angeles and San Diego? Trump is beyond irresponsible | Ted Widmer https://www. theguardian.com/commentisf
Commentator Ted Widmer argues in The Guardian that Donald Trump's suggestion to 'take out' Los Angeles and San Diego is beyond irresponsible, warning such rhetoric about attacking American cities is dangerous. The remarks, made in a speech, have drawn criticism as the US approaches the 2026 midterm elections and amid heightened tensions over US-Israel conflict with Iran.
Why now: Trump's violent rhetoric about major US cities is seen as alarming and politically significant ahead of the 2026 midterms.
