UEFA monitoring Manchester City amid Premier League case

Original: Double trouble for Manchester City? UEFA monitoring Premier League case as Citizens face potential secondary sanctions

Manchester City could face a second set of sanctions on top of any punishment from the Premier League, as UEFA is reportedly monitoring the English top-flight's case against the club. The Premier League charged City with numerous alleged financial rule breaches, and European football's governing body previously sanctioned the club in 2020 before a Court of Arbitration for Sport appeal overturned a two-year Champions League ban. Any new UEFA action would compound the club's legal troubles.

Why now: The Premier League's financial charges against Manchester City remain a live issue and possible UEFA involvement would escalate consequences for the club.
