Union criticised over handling of Magdeburg situation
Original: Zwischenstand: Gestern habe ich geschrieben, ich lasse ihnen noch etwas Zeit. #Union Heute sehe ich keine Erhellung. Das
A German commentator reports that after giving the CDU/CSU (Union) additional time, there is still no sign of a clearer position. The party's actions in Magdeburg, the author argues, are damaging trust in the steadfastness of the democratic centre, and a response from the Union has yet to be heard. The remark is drawing attention in German-language political discussion.
Why now: Ongoing criticism of the Union parties' response to events in Magdeburg is fuelling debate about the credibility of Germany's democratic centre.
