Minut expands occupancy monitoring tools for Airbnb hosts
Original: Device detection and occupancy monitoring for Airbnb hosts
Minut, a smart home security company, is drawing attention for its device-based occupancy monitoring features aimed at short-term rental hosts. The system uses sensors rather than cameras to detect noise, occupancy levels and unauthorized parties, letting Airbnb hosts enforce house rules while respecting guest privacy. Debate centers on the balance between property protection and guest surveillance.
Why now: Hosts and privacy advocates are debating sensor-based guest monitoring as short-term rental regulation intensifies.
