Iraq Submits New Climate Pledge Under Paris Agreement
Original: Iraq Nationally Determined Contribution
Iraq has put forward its Nationally Determined Contribution, the national climate plan countries submit under the Paris Agreement, with support from the United Nations Development Programme. The document outlines the country's commitments to reduce emissions and adapt to climate change. As one of the world's most oil-dependent and climate-vulnerable states, Iraq's pledges are drawing attention ahead of international climate negotiations.
Why now: Iraq's updated climate commitments under the Paris Agreement are newly in the news with UN backing.
