A Walkable 3D Art Museum Built From Wikipedia
Original: Show HN: A walkable 3D art history museum built from Wikipedia
A developer has launched a free, walkable 3D museum that lets visitors explore art history through exhibits assembled from Wikipedia content, viewable in a browser. The project pairs virtual gallery spaces with encyclopedic information about artworks and artists, and is drawing attention for how it repurposes openly licensed knowledge into an immersive, navigable cultural experience without licensing major museum collections.
Why now: It is a novel demonstration of how freely available encyclopedic content can be turned into an immersive virtual museum.
