Nic Maddinson's return exposes Australia's batting crisis
Original: nic maddinson
Nic Maddinson is back in the frame for Australian selection ahead of the series against South Africa, with reports noting he overcame a serious battle off the field before earning his return. His call-up comes as Australia face a shortage of batting options: Cameron Green has been ruled out of the series opener against the Proteas, and Matt Connolly has been quarantined, forcing selectors to delay naming their Durban team.
Why now: Australia's injury and availability problems ahead of the South Africa series have put Maddinson's surprise recall in the spotlight.
