Flávio Bolsonaro's election gain alarms Brazil climate campaigners
Original: Flávio Bolsonaro’s advance in Brazil’s election is grim jolt for climate campaigners
Flávio Bolsonaro, son of former president Jair Bolsonaro, has made a strong advance in Brazil's election, according to the Guardian. The result is being read as a setback for climate campaigners, who fear a strengthening of the Bolsonaro political bloc could weaken environmental protections in the Amazon and undermine current climate policy efforts.
Why now: Election results suggesting renewed strength for the Bolsonaro political family raise fears over the future of Brazil's environmental and Amazon protection policies.
