MotoGP has confirmed it will introduce a new sprint race format, prompting criticism from fans who argue the sport is copying Formula 1's controversial sprint weekends rather than the reverse. The announcement from series owner Liberty Media's MotoGP division has sparked debate among motorsport followers, with some complaining that sprint races are being spread across championships rather than reconsidered in either.
Why now: MotoGP's adoption of a sprint format similar to F1's has reignited fan frustration over the sprint race concept spreading across motorsport.
