David Alaba makes Udinese debut as substitute in Lecce defeat

Original: david alaba

David Alaba has made his first appearance for Udinese, coming on as a substitute in the Italian club's 3-0 home defeat to Lecce. It was his first competitive match in more than three months, and German-language reports described the debut as unlucky given the heavy loss. Alaba has said he joined Udinese to pursue his future rather than wind down his career.

Why now: The Austria defender's long-awaited return to action and debut for his new club coincided with a heavy defeat and questions over coach Runjaic's future.
