Nature photographers are sharing macro shots of the autumn spider (Metellina segmentata) as part of the recurring German-language Macro Wednesday photo tradition. The spider, common across Europe in autumn, is being featured alongside tags for biodiversity, arachnology and bug-of-the-day, with links to its Wikipedia entry for anyone curious about the species.
Why now: It is autumn, when Metellina segmentata is most visible and macro photography communities run themed photo days.
